EMTanner Designs - Addictive Website LOL

I started by checking out 'Quints By Surprise' today and noticed they had facebook. Then I decided to "like" them and found a link to EMTanner Designs where they get their initial t-shirts for the kids. Wow.. I can spend a lot of $$ on this site. Alivia already has me ordering her a lime green t-shirt LOL.

Then.. I saw this recipe.. Haven't tried it yet but thought I would share this blog from their site.. I LOVE 'smores :)

YUM! smore cookie recipe..MUST TRY!

Ingredients

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375
  • In an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugars. Add vanilla and eggs. Mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients, except the last three add ins. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix until combined. Add in the chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallows.
  • Scoop with a tablespoon or medium disher (aka ice cream scoop) and roll dough into balls. Place on a parchment or wax paper lined baking sheet 2 inches apart. Bake for 9 – 11 minutes or until the sides and tops just start to turn golden brown.
  • Makes 2 – 3 dozen large cookies.
  • Things to note about this recipe: First, this batch is HUGE. I have a Kitchenaide stand mixer and the bowl was nearly over flowing. I think next time, I may do only half of this amount. Secondly, I may just poke the marshmallows into the top of the cookies next time. The ones that came in direct contact with the cookie sheet turned into hard caramel. (I should have KNOWN that, but I wasn’t thinking about that fact that marshmallows are basically solid sugar, and when sugar hits 375 degrees, crazy things can happen) I destroyed like 5 cookies trying to remove them from the sheet. Oh well, the ugly ones are treats for the chef. :)

Surviving March Break While at Home

Yes, it is that time of year again.. March Break!!

Some may say "yeah" and some may be saying "please no".
I'm torn between these two... I am excited to have my kids home for the week but not looking forward to the constant nattering of "I'm bored", "What's there to do?" etc...

If you are like me and can't really afford to do the fun things like going on vacation or paying to entertain your children with movies, skiing, snowboarding, bowling, swimming.. the list is endless of the things we can do that cost $$.. then you may want to check out the link below that will guide you to some websites with some stay at home things to do. I am all for the staying home as I have a 12yr old to try and entertain while having to drag around a 3yr old and a 1yr old. Some of these ideas might even have them engage in something together.. Imagine that!!

Hope some of these sites are helpful and keep you sane during the next week.

Happy March Break Everyone.. enjoy the break from driving, packing lunches etc... I know that is the best part of this week for me :)

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Just made the yummiest chocolate chip cookies with my baby boy.. the first batch taste just like Pillsbury cookies where they melt in your hands and mouth...YUMMY!!  The second batch was different for some reason but still just as yummy...crispy on edges, soft and chewy in the middle.

BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Ingredients (makes approx. 4 dozen cookies)
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)
2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.  Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanillla.  Dissolve baking soda in hot water.  Add to batter along with salt.  Stir in flour and chocolate chips.  Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

I'll add photos later if there are any cookies left ;)

Kids Say the Darndest Things!!

Not the best topic.. but cute none the less!!

My sweet little almost 3yr old daughter woke up panicked during the middle of the night last night. I ran in to see what was the matter. She was sitting in the middle of her bed and I thought for sure she was going to say she wanted to get up. I tried laying her back down and she says that she can't!!  "Cuz there's poop all over my bed" is what she tells me. I didn't even know what to say and was afraid to turn the light on. I had no idea why there would be poop all over her bed unless she was sick and she seemed fine. I DID NOT want to turn on the light BUT I did. And thank goodness there was nothing there. So again I told her to lay down and she once again said she couldn't. "The cows pooped all over my bed!!" I assured her there was no more "poop" and she could go to sleep.
This morning, thinking she was just dreaming and wouldn't remember I asked her why the cows pooped all over her bed?? She looked at me with the most serious face, held up her finger and said "cuz they are bad!!" So, I am not quite sure what she dreamt about last night but she remembers and said they went back to the farm like her other cows. Thank Goodness!! (we live next door to two dairy farms) LOL
